This page relates to Cornetto, Last updated May 2024. Every effort has been made to assess each Wall’s product individually. We spoke to Walls/Magnum on May 2024 to confirm whether the ice creams are halal.
Any emulsifier like E471 (mono and diglycerides of fatty acids) is derived from a plant source not from animal sources. Previously Walls had told us some products contain e471 from animal sources.
Further, Ice creams do not contain Calf Rennet, but do contain whey. Magnum cannot guarantee that there is no rennet residue in the whey. According to the Hanafis, Rennet is permissible. This is also why the products are unsuitable for vegetarians. Please read our post on Calf Rennet in Islam.
The following are halal and some are also suitable for Vegetarians:

If some of the ice creams contain alcohol how can they be classed as halal – please make it clear which foods contain alcohol and/or are made using any alcohol, so that consumers can make a fully informed decision
Wa Alaykum As-salam. As far as we are aware, the information above is accurate. We are in touch with someone senior at Magnum to get clarification.

Are cornettos still suitable for vegetarians?
Just wanted to double check as the walls website says that it isn’t?

You say cornetto is halal,as “Any emulsifier like E471 (mono and diglycerides of fatty acids) is derived from a plant source not from animal sources. Previously Walls had told us some products contain e471 from animal sources.
But the Walls website, in the FAQ states “ Currently the only Cornetto product suitable for a vegetarian and vegan diet is the Cornetto Made with Soy & Gluten Free.
We advise that consumers check individual ingredients lists on products, as the recipes are subject to change and the ingredients list on pack will carry the most up to date information.”
Please amend your information.
