Spaghetti Bolognese

This Halal Spaghetti Bolognese is based on the meat-based sauce in Italian cuisine, and roots from the city of Bologna. One thing we ensure is we list halal ingredients so you can be sure your food is halal.

This recipe is easy to follow and loved by kids!

You'll need a large sauce pan, a pot and something to stir it with.

Meat
 500 g halal minced beef or mutton
 2 tbsp olive oil
 2 chopped onions
 1 crushed garlic clove
 90 g sliced mushrooms
 1 tsp dried oregano or mixed herbs
 400 g chopped tomatoes
 1 tbsp tomato purée
 Salt and ground black pepper
Pasta
 350 g spaghetti
 1 dash olive oil
 Freshly grated cheese
Meat

Fry the onion and oil in a large pan for 5 minutes until they are light brown, then add the garlic and fry for 1 minute.

Add the mince and fry until it is brown.

Now add salt, pepper and the mixed herbs and mix well. And add the Mushrooms. The Mushrooms will release water so keep stirring until it dries out.

Stir in the tomatoes, tomato purée. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 30 mins.

Cook the spaghetti in a large pan of boiling, salted water, for about 10 minutes. according to packet instructions. Once done, drain and add a dash of olive oil.

Bringing it together

Taste the bolognese, If it's cooked then add pasta to the serving dish. Top up with the bolognese, sprinkle a bit of cheese, add more pasta and finally top with some bolognese.
