Five Guys

The last time we spoke to Five Guys, they had no intention of going Halal. But now it’s offical! The following Five Guys stores are fully Halal certified:
So much so, at these stores no bacon is served, nor hot dogs nor alcohol. Ensuring there is no doubt of cross contamination.
The chains are certifed by HCO, a UK based Halal Certification Organisation. To note, HCO do allow stunning of animals. This does not mean they slaughter by stun, but lessen the pain to animals by stunning. They ensure no animal dies as a result of the stunning.

This does still mean many are not. So a message for the Arabs, Five Guys other than this list are not halal. The UK is not a Christian state with Christian slaughter laws being applied. There are plenty of alternatives in the UK and halal meat is easily available, the necessity argument cannot be made. Islamic law relates to the daily life of Muslims, so applies wherever you are in the world.

Some of you may want to try their Veggie products. However please note:
From Five Guys:
Do you offer any food which is suitable for vegetarians?
Yes, to a certain extent. Our veggie sandwich and grilled cheese sandwiches are suitable for lacto-vegetarians. One thing to take note of is that our veggie sandwich is NOT a veggie burger. Our veggie sandwich consists of as many “veggie” toppings as you desire and served on our basic bun. You can add cheese if you please. Our bread is toasted, but usually on a separate grill from meat products. However, there is always a chance for cross contamination, so please check at the individual location where you are ordering to be certain. Finally, our fries are just plain potatoes cooked in 100% peanut oil and are suitable for even vegan diets.
